INDIVIDUAL TUTORING FOR PRIMARY STUDENTS

You can count on www.learnwithleafy.co.uk to not only meet, but exceed all your needs and requests. Learn more about the services we provide below, and let us know if you’d like more information about a specific service.

BENEFITS OF TUTORING

We can tutor your child in both Maths and English:

  • Allowing your child to move on in a particular area or topic

  • Filling in any ‘gaps’ that have been missed due to illness, or lack of understanding

  • Building your child’s confidence in a particular subject

  • Helping your child progress towards the next level in the curriculum

  • Assisting your child with the basics they need to help with their schoolwork.

  • Provide your child with the necessary skills to tackle those 'end of year' assessments

  • Give your child confidence for SATS in Year 2 and 6.

MATH TUTORING

If your child needs some extra support in Maths, then look no further than LearnwithLeafy.

Maths tutoring can be used to:

  • Move your child on in a particular area where they are struggling e.g. times tables

  • Help close the gap between the levels they are currently at in school to the level they should be at according to their age

  • Help your child gain confidence in maths

  • Improves your child’s knowledge and understanding.

As previously mentioned, my methods include:

  • Focusing on your child’s interest and learning styles. (e.g  if your child has a short attention span, lessons can include short games and activities

  • Alternatively, if your child likes to take their time to complete an activity, the lessons can be made into a fun project that can be added to each week  e.g. for measuring – we can make or build something to a ‘scale’.

ENGLISH TUTORING

English is an intense subject for children.

I can help your child with their reading skills, including working on their comprehension, making reading more enjoyable.

I love to teach through games and activities and your child will soon learn the complex rules of both spelling and grammar.  See my video for an example of my methods!

The last area is writing. For younger children we include:

  • Helping your child with sentence structure so that they ‘make sense’

  • Helping to develop their handwriting skills

With older children, our support includes:

  • How to structure their writing and what to include. (both fiction and non-fiction genres)

  • How to proof read and self-edit your own work

  • How to stay focused on a particular area

All of these can be completed in short manageable chunks and themed around the child’s interests. For instance:

  • If your child likes ‘football’, we can write stories that pull in themes related to the latest news!

  • If your child enjoys horse riding, we can write a set of instructions on how to ride a horse!
